Happy New Year and a few layer cake blocks!

It has been a while since I have posted. I have been busy with the holidays and now that it is almost over, life can get back to normal. Lots of Christmas gifts were made and delivered. Hopefully everyone liked their gift or regifted it if it just did not suit them.

I worked on and got all caught up on Moose on the Porch's Layer cake challenge. The last two blocks were not easy for me. Took me most of the day to complete. Cutting was an issue. A tip would be to be sure you iron your fabric first and cut accurately. I may just do another of block four and five, they were both not as good as I would have liked.

Here are the ones I did this week.

Spinner Block - Layer Cake Quilt along.

I spent most of Friday sewing.  I got quite  a lot done to.  Finished my first spinner block for the Layer Cake Quilt Along on Moose on the Porch quilt along.  I think it came out pretty nice and was fairly easy to accomplish.

Here is the first block.  Looking forward to the next one.

Adding links and buttons!!! I think I got it!!

Well, finally, I think I have it down pat now.  Thanks to Moose on the Porch, he gave a very good tutorial in adding his quilt along button and pic and it worked.  I also added the Rusty Thimble's picture and give away.

TADA!!!

Now I am off to sew, I  have spent hours doing my pictures, uploads, blogs, flickers and shutterfly's this morning and the sun is high in the sky.  Great day outside and I also need to rake leaves Ugh!

Pot holders for Christmas gifts

Here are a couple of pot holders made using Oh! Fransson's method.  I have tried a bunch of patterns and this one is by far the easiest.  Came out beautiful and I will defintely being making more.  I had planned on giving a pot holder and two tea towels I have made.  Nice gift for the girls at work.
I would love to add a link to Fransson's site but am not good enough at it...so here is her address.

Hopefully you can find the site and try the tutorial.

Halloween 2010

We had a great time.  This year with Halloween being on Sunday we went out early and were home just as it got dark.  Treating during the day is not as much fun as at night, but the kids are still little and it's not easy to scare them after dark, they tend to get crying and that's no fun.  Maybe next year we can go at night!! and say BOO!

I put this book together on Shutterfly!  These are great books and make a great gift.

Chugging right along on the blog!

It seems to be going okay in blog land.  I got my pictures to work, and a gadget to work and I linked to another site in a small pic on the side bar.  Whaaa YOOO!!  glad I am finally getting the hang of it, because it really was cutting into my sewing time and I just could not have that.

Raw Edge Circle Qult - came out nice!!

This is the raw edge circle quilt I had gotten inspiration from Cluck Cluck Sew. Boy was it fun to do and it came out pretty nice.  Here are a couple of pictures to share with you.  Hope you like my efforts, this is way out of my comfort zone in quilting.

Got the pics to work!! Yee Ha!:)

Well, it finally worked.  Got the pics to load into flicker and post to my page.  Now all I have to do is upload a lot of pics.  This blog has started to take up a lot of my time, it is cramping my quilting style.  I have to say blogging is fun, but I feel like I get  a lot more accomplished when I quilt.

I am a bit frustrated with all the designing.  Will keep at it for now, but will see how it goes.

adding links is a chalenge

I just spent about 2 hours trying to add a link to Burnt Wood Bears.  I did it because it works. But I wanted it on my sidebar as a small pick that you click on.  Oh well, back to the insructions.  Maybe tomorrow I will do better.

Quilts for Kids - lots of fun to do!

I have been making baby quilts lately, not too sure why. They make up quickly and its fun to send them off to someone who really needs them.  The place I get the kits is amazing, Quilts for Kids, sends an entire kit for free no less.  Never expected a free kit.  But there it came to my door, worked up in a day from start to finish.  All they asked is that I send one of my own back with it.  So I did. Had a lot of fun too.  Here are are a couple I have done.
